My name is Colin, an educator and translator of history books, with an academic background from Berkeley, as well as graduate studies at Seoul National and Harvard.
I’m passionate about exploring the world, understanding humanity, and seeking knowledge. I find joy in music, movies, books, sports, art, travel, photography, and writing. My motto: The more you know, the more there is to love, and the less you know, the less there is to love. Words that define me: tolerant, eclectic, positive. I’m currently based in Seoul.
This little online world was created to share my thoughts on Korea and my translations of BTS content. Everything I post is meant to bring you a little closer to the heart of BTS and Korean culture. Come visit often, my friends!
I. For over six months, I’ve spent my late evenings after work creating this website from scratch, a place to share my writing with people who are interested in Korea and BTS. I want this online space to be a safe place for both you and me, populated with people who thoughtfully, intellectually engage with words, ideas, views, and perspectives.
II. Before you dive in, I invite you to check out each category in the header menu to get a feel for this place. For instance, clicking the BTS option will show all posts dedicated to BTS, while the dropdown menu leads you to subcategories, like Lyric Translation, where you can find posts focused solely on BTS song lyric translations.
III. To access certain posts and the Members Discussion Board, you must sign up (many posts remain open to non-members). You can register by clicking the Log in/out button at the top right corner of the homepage and selecting the register link at the bottom, or by touching the header menu and clicking on the Join/Profile option.
IV. Once you sign up and become a member, you’ll be able to write on the Members Board on any topic. Whether you’re offering your reflections on one of my posts, introducing yourself, or discussing BTS, Korea, the world, or your own life, no subject is off limits. The only requirement is to be kind, considerate, and mature in your expression.
V. All content I create is my intellectual property and may not be used without my explicit permission. However, you are free to use my translations of BTS songs and letters without permission. Although I invest time and energy into these translations, they originate from the words of the BTS members. In fact, I would prefer that you share my translations of their lyrics rather than rely on poorly translated content found on lyric websites or YouTube videos.
Please come by often. I’ll try to upload posts daily (except on weekends), with one always being a BTS song translation. I’d also love to engage with you at the Members Board section, where you can share your thoughts with other members in a safe and welcoming space. Also, if you want to catch up on contents you’ve missed, then click the Posts category in the menu bar. You can browse through all archived posts there. Welcome, and I look forward to sharing my contents with you.
