It’s Sunday evening, just past seven, but daylight still lingers. As I gaze out my window at the endless stream of cars and motorbikes rushing down the six-lane road, I watch the rain falling softly. The summer rain is an especially welcome guest, soaking the streets and buildings that have been parched by the oppressive heat, cooling the muggy air, and making the trees and plants along the sidewalks look all the greener. This rain is embraced all the more because Seoul has just endured two weeks of record-breaking temperatures and relentless, scorching sun. And there’s truly no sound as sweet as raindrops tapping against the windowpane on a quiet night. The forecast promises rain throughout the night, so I look forward to falling asleep to its gentle rhythm. I hope you’re all having a restful weekend. Be well, everyone!
Here’s a photo from earlier today: heavy clouds, swollen with potential rain, seem to be caught on the power lines.
